POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Micromastia.
OPERATION PERFORMED: Bilateral breast augmentation
with Moderate Profile Plus, smooth round implants, size 375 mL filled to 420
mL. Right implant is #5642062053, left
implant is #5825646-023.\
ANESTHESIA: General
PROCEDURE IN DETAIL: The patient was
brought to the operating room, placed supine on the operating table. General anesthesia was administered. The patient was then prepped and draped. Next, 1% lidocaine with epinephrine was
injected into the umbilicus, as well as both breasts.
Next, an umbilical incision was made. A tunneling device was then used to tunnel up
to the breast, which was then used to separate the pectoralis muscle. A hockey stick was then used to open the
pectoralis muscle more. Next, sizers
were placed and filled up to approximately 450 mL. The same procedure was performed on the
contralateral side. The endoscope was
placed to confirm a subpectoral pocket.
Next, irrigation was performed. Three-hundred seventy-five mL implants were
chosen. The implants were opened,
checked for leaks, and then placed into each pocket. The implants were then inflated to 420
mL. The patient was sat up and good
symmetry was noted. Next, the small mole
was removed from her left breast. This
was cauterized.
The umbilicus was
then closed with 5-0 fast-absorbing plain gut.
Dressings were applied. The
patient tolerated the procedure well.
